Sophie Malek (she/her) is a Naarm/Melbourne-based actor having grown up in Eora/Sydney. After discovering her passion for acting at a young age, she trained at NIDA and the Australian Theatre for Young people and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2024. Sophie’s credits at the VCA include; Marina Litvinenko in ‘A Very Expensive Poison’ (dir. Katy Maudlin), Death in ‘Everybody’ (dir. Isabella Vadiveloo), Ranevskaya in ‘The Cherry Orchard’ (dir. Bagryana Popov), and Charlotte in ‘Siblings’ (dir. Blake Barnard), as well as being the 2024 recipient of the Patricia Kennedy Award for excellence in acting during her time at the VCA. Sophie is a highly skilled state representative soccer player and is deeply passionate about the way humans engage and exist in this messy, beautiful world. She is determined and excited to manifest compelling characters and stories on the stage and screen.
